A question for authors

This is a slightly different blog post today. I want to ask you authors here a question. Think back to when you started writing. When you began, what words and verbs were there that you got mixed up eg practice/se, affect/effect (I’ve only just come to understand the difference between affect and effect).

The reason I ask is I am creating a freebie for my list of writing exercises to get their writing flowing if and when they get stuck. From that, I want to expand it into a short ebook with more exercises and quizzes about the most common words and verbs we get confused with.

‘The Railway Angel’ is now an Amazon bestseller

Last week I found out that ‘The Railway Angel’ reached the Top 100 of 2 lists on Amazon for Free ebooks, making me an Amazon bestselling author.  It was still there yesterday, as I mentioned on Facebook.

 

OMG. Just discovered that ‘The Railway Angel’ has just gone back into 2 of the Top 100 Free ebook lists on Amazon. Yay. It dropped out of them for a couple of days, and now it’s fighting back.

 

Above is the proof. It is just about there today at 99. Can we put it back up there again?

‘The Leaping Angels’ is now out!

It’s finally happened. ‘The Leaping Angels’ is now available at Smashwords and Amazon, so far. Tomorrow I plan to put it on Kobo and then D2D for Apple. Here are the two links:

Sneak preview of blurb and cover of Leaping Angels

Hello, there

I plan to start publishing ‘The Leaping Angels’ next week as I’m in the process of finalising it all into an ebook. It is the fourth in the Guardian Angels series, and is Danny and Lizzie’s group test.

Here is a sneak preview of its cover and blurb:

 

 

How would you stop a group of teenagers from leaping from a hotel balcony to another? That’s Lizzie and Danny’s next mission – the group test. With graduate, Alex, they use their persuasion skills, memories and concentration on getting to the hotel where the teenagers are. Only they find that their enemy, the Dark Angel, has got there first. For during their memory challenge, it starts to go wrong. The teens leap faster and faster from one balcony to another until one boy falls. With ‘what if’ scenarios and flashbacks, Danny persuades the leader to stop his gang. But then Lizzie has to prevent a rival gang from doing the same. With memories of her death and what just happened, she persuades them to leave, but the Enemy pushes one of the boys to fall. Alex flies to the rescue. Two groups saved in one day. They have passed their group test.

As I’ve said, I plan to start publishing it, first with Smashwords, next week possibly Monday. I will post on social media sites when it is available and where.

 

 

 

 

Leaping Angels – current draft finished

I have now finished the current draft of Leaping Angels, where Danny and Lizzie with the help of Alex, stop a group of teenage boys from leaping off hotel balconies to another one. They got the boys to stop their silly acts and go home, thinking about what they want to do in their future. They now face their final group test, and the ending gives a clue to what that will be about….

Leaping Angels – an update of where I am

Lizzie and Danny have been given a medal each for passing their pair test, and now have wing growth. They are with Alex at the hotel room, and are about to stop the group from risking their lives by leaping from one hotel balcony to another.  One teen, a scared one, has already gone, now to targe the leader. They are about to find that things are going to get harder for their missions – quickly.

The Guardian Angels reach Down Under

Today, when I went on to Amazon to look at my ebook downloads, I discovered that someone has bought each of my Angel ebooks in Australia. That is the wonder of epublishing yourself – you can reach far and wide as possible that the distributors such as Amazon get to. Hurrah.

Change of view for next Angel ebook

Following edits for ‘The Leaping Angels’ I have decided that it will now be in Danny’s point of view as it will be his and Lizzie’s group test, which will prove harder for them. Alex will appear in it to help them. So it will take a lot longer now for when it will be epublished as it basically means I have to rewrite the whole story again. Watch this space…

New ebook coming…soon

I have just started writing the fourth in the series. It is going to be called ‘The Jumping Angel’ and will be Alex’s story. I have sketched a tree of who is who and who guides who in the series. Also, written who dies how and where. Need to do character descriptions more. In this story I will describe the settings more, in Heaven and on Earth. So watch this space…
